The aim of the Genio Disability Programme is to accelerate the availability of cost-effective, individualised supports and services to enable people with disabilities and mental health difficulties to live as included and valued members of the community. This involves a move away from traditional, often expensive, services which group and segregate people focussing on their deficits rather than their strengths.
From 2010-2013 there was an annual disability funding round held each year. There was no disability funding round in 2014. All funding rounds are subject to agreement with the HSE.
In disability, in counties around Ireland there has been:
- 110 projects supported
- €10.9 million funding awarded
- 5,349 beneficiaries
Detailed information about each funding round and the projects supported each year are available in this section.
