In 2019 we launched the exhibition, ‘Facing Change’, capturing the real-life changes experienced by those who have been supported by projects funded through the Government of Ireland and Genio over the past decade.

The exhibition featured 10 portraits of inspiring people from the four corners of Ireland, from a variety of backgrounds and across ages and genders. They have all been supported to overcome personal challenges related to mental health, disability, homelessness and dementia and to have more control over their own lives and live in the community. The portraits were taken by Ruth Medjber whose work has been exhibited extensively in Ireland as well as internationally.

The exhibition also featured 10 short films produced by Sam Whelan-Curtin and Fiona Murphy featuring individuals and families who share their personal experiences with disability, mental health and dementia.

To coincide with the exhibition we have published the learnings and impact from our collaboration with Government over the past ten years.

Facing Change opened to the public in the Gallery of Photography, Dublin in April 2019. Watch the launch video here for a taster of the event. It visited Cork, Donegal and Galway between September 2019 - January 2020 and Philanthropy House in Brussels in 2020.

The Atlantic Philanthropies have been very supportive of this collaboration.
