What We Do

Genio is a pioneering non-profit organisation that works with the public, private and non-profit sectors to stimulate and support social innovation in Ireland that has lasting impact.

The solution to complex social and health issues cannot be found in a single organisation or person. It takes drive, commitment and collaboration.

With the support of the Atlantic Philanthropies we began working in the disability and mental health fields in 2008. Since 2010, the Genio Trust has combined Government health innovation funding and contributions from the Atlantic Philanthropies totaling almost €6m.

Genio supports transformation in the areas of disability and mental health by:

  1. Providing innovation funding – 72 projects supported
  2. Building capacity of relevant stakeholders – people who use services, service providers, policy-makers and service commissioners
  3. Producing evidence of impact, costs and what works best
