Family Focus – Individuals and families taking the lead

Vera O’Connor is a parent who participated in a family leadership project supported by Genio.  

“Since taking part in the Family Focus training supported by the Genio Trust, our expectations for Tina are vast. We were shown videos of people with disabilities out on their own but they were mobile mostly and we were always saying well Tina is in a wheelchair, she needs care 24/7 and maybe it’s not for us. We were thinking it’s easy for them. Now we hope that she can live in her own home with support from family, support workers and volunteers and that her day will be totally fulfilled. No matter what disabilities your child has, you can work with it.”
